The big take away for me was how much he did understand. The memories narrowed down to emotional information, but they never went away.dalehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17618851327911067660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3534083688086930838.post-12226337646286568432012-04-10T13:04:58.555-07:002012-04-10T13:04:58.555-07:00Hi Connie,

The first post made me think of my Mom's struggle with my Dad before he ended up in a Vet's hospital on the psych wing. The daily 24-hour tending, even when there is a break; the uncertainties; the maddening routines. And then, years later, she developed dementia and saw herself sliding out of control of those details and skills she'd honed over the years. Gone was her artistic talent, for instance. She ended up in Our Island Home on Nantucket and in one of my visits there did not know who I was. The details of each case may vary in the fine points, but the larger slopes and peaks and troughs are similar for all. And your second post speaks to the slow pace of research. I periodically read that this or that may help. B-12 and so on. But you've hit the problem dead on and I hope this blog helps to broadcast attention to the issue.
